Arm Liposuction Surgery in Melbourne

For several reasons such as age and weight loss, the upper arm loses its tight shape and by time gets inevitably flabby or floppy. No matter how many arm-targeted exercises, sports or diets you do, the arms are genetically susceptible to store fat and sag.

However, you can get back the beautiful and tightened shape of the arm, without damaging the muscles through an Arm Liposuction done by Vaser Technology. This procedure tightens lax skin and forms the arm’s contour whilst removing fat. Not everyone is a candidate as this is not a replacement for arm exercises and for a healthy diet. This treatment is best suited for those who have been toning their arms and not achieving their desired results from exercise or diet.

The Candidate:

People over 18 years old  whose bones and skin growth has been achieved. Unfortunately, this procedure is not suitable for pregnant women, those who have health problems with or without anesthesia and those with skin infections.

Before the Procedure:

Liposuction is not a solution for weight loss and patients must understand this to have realistic expectations. There are some things to consider before the operation:

  • Stop using blood thinners such as aspirin.
  • Stop smoking 10 days before the operation.
  • You should inform your doctor about the medications you use before the operation.
  • Patients should be sure about the doctor’s experience and the hospital.

During the Procedure:

Arm liposuction can be performed on both men and women who are in good health. They are the candidates who struggled with localized fat deposits in their upper arms. Both arms are addressed during the procedure, but it is performed on the upper arms only.

There are several techniques for Arm Liposuction. The arm fat is taken from 2 points, either behind the elbow or under the armpit by a 0.5 mm incision and the use of a liposuction cannula. After eliminating the excess fat, skin from the arm can be removed, this way you get a tight arm. The procedure takes about 1-2 hours depending on the extracted amount of fat. Scars are very small and will fade eventually. Often, arm liposuction is paired with back liposuction to balance the upper half of the body.

Recovery / Downtime:

Arm liposuction is the most comfortable and fastest liposuction procedure. Usually, patients leave the hospital on the same day of operation. Little downtime  is needed as the healing process begins in a day or two. Most patients can return to their normal light activities for the first 2 weeks without any heavy lifting. To get good results, bandaging or compression garments are wrapped around the upper arms to help the skin form to its new contour and reduce any swelling or bruising for 2 weeks.

Majority of the patients hardly reported any discomfort. Healing process ends fast and a patient can wear sleeveless tops once optimal results are reached in 1 to 2 months.

As a guide, here are some post-op care:

  • You should take care of hygiene in the areas to prevent infections.
  • Do not shower during the first 3 days after operation.
  • You should protect your arm from sunlight.
  • Do not exercise heavy sports  and do not lift any heavy things during the prescribed period by your doctor after the operation.
  • Do not move your arm more than necessary.
  • The treated area is bandaged, so take care of its hygiene.
  • You should consume a lot of water.

Arm Liposuction Alternative:

Arm CoolSculpting is a FDA-approved nonsurgical procedure with no downtime for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the upper arm. Although it affects the appearance of lax tissue, this is not a treatment for weight loss.
