Thread Lift & Our Procedure

For each new client, the Cosmetic Doctor will start the initial consultation by discussing your personal needs. From this, we will determine what will look best for your face and body. Every individual is different, and our tailored treatments reflect this.

What Are Thread Lifts?

Thread lifts are one of the popular trends in the facial and skin world. Thread lifts are a non- surgical facelift which helps treat sagging skin and fine lines. As time passes by, and because of the ageing process, facial skin tends to lose volume and becomes lax. Thread lifts claim to tighten the skin and form the shape of your face for a better and younger look.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a ‘mL’ and How Many Do I Need?

An ‘ml’ of dermal filler is a measurement of the injectable gel administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for laugh lines requires 1-2 mls, while marionette or the pre-jowl lines require 1 ml. For the lips, depending on the look you are after, 1 – 2 mls are required,  while cheeks require 2 – 4 mls depending on the volume loss that has occurred. The cost of dermal fillers will vary depending on the type of filler chosen, and the amount required to acheive your desired results.

What are Main Risks and do Dermal Fillers Hurt?

Unlike traditional procedures, such as surgical facelifts or implants, this treatment requires no cuts, incisions or stitches. It may involve some light pain or discomfort. Clients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied. For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anesthetic to numb the area completely. Afterwards, there may be some swelling or bruising. The swelling fades within 48 hours; the bruising can take up to a fortnight.

    Will I Look Dramatically Different?

No, our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face to guide the procedure. Your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your consultation, your doctor will discuss the best-tailored treatment plan to acheive a natural aesthetic. However, even if you are seeking a more stand out look, this can be achieved with dermal fillers. Opting for a little more volume than average is a common request when it comes to lip fillers, for example, just beware that filler injections really shine in producing more natural looks using well-proportioned adjustments. You can always choose to have a little more applied in your next visit if you’d like a little extra size.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal Fillers can last up to 6 – 12 months. The effect of the fillers depends on the individual and the type of filler used. At Skin Club Cosmetic Doctors, we have the standard or premium fillers which are the thick and thin fillers. Swiss-made fillers can last up to 12 months. Dermal fillers are a gel substance made up of hyaluronic acid or HA. HA is naturally found in the body and will be absorbed back into the skin and disappear over time. Once you start noticing that the effects of your fillers are wearing-off, you can book in for top-up treatment.

    What Happens at My Consultation?

Our in-depth consultations are the best in the industry. Our highly trained practitioners will take the time to discuss the aspects of your skin problems, your desired results, budget and any risks involved with the treatment. The aim is for you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and looking forward to your treatment. Whatever your needs may be, we will take the time to work with you to develop a personally tailored plan to best tackle your cosmetic goals. Our consultations are obligation-free, and we will never push you to have any treatment or commit to any services. Always feel free to ask any questions or have anything further clarified during your consultation.

    Can I Buy 0.5ml?

This is a frequently asked question, and the answer depends on the Cosmetic Doctor. At SKIN CLUB, our cosmetic doctors uphold the highest standards when treating patients; therefore, we rarely use 0.5ml on our patients. Dermal fillers come in 1ml syringes from our manufacturers, so there are risks involved with cross-contamination of products between patients using 0.5ml of each filler. However, if a patient has had fillers before at our clinic, and we are able to hold the filler for the patient in our refrigerated and sterile facility.

Where Can I Have Dermal Fillers?

Fillers can be injected by one of the following four techniques: serial puncture, threading, fanning, and crosshatching. With these techniques the popular areas to add volume and fullness to include the lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands. Dermal fillers are quite versatile, so if there’s an area you are wondering about, just ask, and we can discuss your options with you.

    How are Dermal Fillers Administered?

Just prior to the actual treatment, the area to be treated will be cleaned. If you have opted to have a topical numbing cream, it will also be applied. However, often numbing cream is unnecessary as typically dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic that rapidly numbs the area from the first injection. The dermal filler is then injected in small amounts under the surface of the skin. Sometimes a cannula may be used to apply dermal fillers, especially in areas with a lot of veins and arteries as these are less likely to pierce them.

How Do Dermal Fillers Compare to Fat Injections?

Fat injections (facial fat grafting) is a process where your fat is extracted from one area using a liposuction procedure and then prepared for reinjection elsewhere. This is an alternative to dermal fillers, however, it does require surgery and is more invasive. It’s also not easy to get accurate results as often an unpredictable amount of fat may not survive the transfer resulting in having to have repeated treatment. Dermal fillers are less invasive and fast to perform the injectable treatment. While autologous fat injections can last longer, for many people, dermal fillers are a fantastic choice that is hard to argue with in this comparison. Modern dermal fillers of a high-quality feel exceptionally natural and have quite good lasting periods, especially when you consider they only take around 5 minutes or so to have applied.

How Do Dermal Fillers Compare to Implants?

Another potential alternative to dermal fillers is implants, such as lip or cheek implants. While these can be a practical solution, what they often lack is a natural feel. Implants on the face can be easily noticed by anyone touching it. The face also is quite sensitive, so having an implant can feel awkward, and it can be hard to forget it’s there for some people. Cosmetic fillers, on the other hand, settle in very nicely and are hard to spot. They blend quite well into your tissue so no one would really notice the difference in appearance and feel. Hyaluronic acid, the most popular substance used as a filler these days, is something that is already naturally occurring and found throughout the body. This is why when applied, it does not feel out of place or synthetic.

What is it Like After Having Dermal Fillers?

It’s normal to experience a little bit of discomfort, redness, or bruising after you receive facial fillers. However, this is usually quite manageable and not too uncomfortable. Often, applying ice to the area will help make it more comfortable. You can also take paracetamol if you feel the need. There is no significant downtime associated with filler injections. An aftercare guide will be provided to you. Included are some dermal filler aftercare tips to help you bounce back as quickly as possible.
