Stomach liposuction in Melbourne

Stomach liposuction or abdominal liposuction is one of the most common liposuction procedures. It is performed when there are excess fat deposits in the abdomen. Fat deposits around your stomach sometimes won’t surrender to diet or exercise. There are a number of factors how fat is redistributed such as aging, childbirth and, of course, genetics. There’s no magic wand to make jiggly belly fat go away but liposuction may offer a solution for the annoying love handles and other unwanted forms of flabs. Stomach liposuction promises a flatter, tighter, and smaller stomach.

 The Benefit

Liposuction of the abdomen has helped patients acheive slimmer, firmer, smoother abdominal contours. Here, we will discuss a variety of abdominal liposuction benefits so you can be well informed of your treatment options.

  • Fat deposits removal

Fat cells are needed for  shock absorption, insulation, and energy storage of our bodies. Liposuction can remove excess fat that contributes to a disproportionate body appearance and unwanted pockets of fat.

  • Reduces cellulite

Cellulite is a result of fat cells pushing collagen and its appearance is also genetic. While it cannot be eradicated, liposuction can reduce the appearance of cellulite and enhance abdominal contours effectively.

  • Boost self-confidence

Getting rid of unwanted body fats, can give you a much-needed boost in self-esteem especially in social situations. Liposuction can enhance your body’s natural contours and will make you more confident and comfortable in wearing swimwears!

  • Improved overall health

Not only, can the innovative liposuction procedure make you more physically active but it can correct issues with metabolism of fat within the body & even remove benign fatty tumors. It is still important to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle post treatment.

  • Enhanced body contours through sculpting

Liposuction can enhance and smooth body shape. A good candidate for liposuction is a patient that practices a healthy lifestyle but still has pockets of excess fat.

  • Safe and effective treatment

Liposuction is a FDA-approved and minimally invasive procedure to acheive a firmer, flatter abdomen.

Similar to any surgical procedure, a patient may still experience side effects. To get the best chance for a quick and successful recovery, it is important to choose a skilled, experienced surgeon and follow the post treatment guidelines recommended.

    Frequently asked questions

How long does the recovery phase take?

The recovery has become a lot quicker in comparison to traditional liposuction. Most patients can resume their normal activities almost right away, although it is recommended to be careful until your body has healed. It is not recommended to do any strenuous activity until the surgeon gives you the all clear. The patient must also wear a compression garment for 1 to 2 weeks. Minor swelling subsides usually up to 2 weeks after the procedure and swelling for 2 weeks to 2 months. The healing process varies per individual but most patients report only some slight discomfort within 1 to 2 days after the procedure and may require pain killer medications.

    What does the procedure involve?

Tumescent liposuction of the abdomen is the safest and a less invasive technique than the traditional liposuction. It is the most common  method for removing fat around the stomach. “Tumescent” means that large amounts of buffered salt water is injected into fatty tissue beneath the skin. The cosmetic surgeon will make incisions in the area to be treated and insert a cannula to remove the excess fat from the abdominal region.

A stiff wand at the end of the cannula will be moved back and forth to loosen fat. It is meant to shape the abdomen and is also suitable to remove stubborn fats that won’t go away through diet and exercise. The procedure takes between 45 minutes to 2 hours with a recovery time of up to 2 weeks. The patient will be bandaged after the treatment.  The full effect is seen 6 to 12 weeks after the procedure is performed.

Who is suitable for abdominal liposuction?

It is important to note that liposuction is not a weight-loss solution. The excellent candidates for stomach liposuction are those who have been working out and on a diet. Patients must have good muscle tone and elastic skin to get great results. What stomach liposuction won’t do is to fix a bulging stomach that’s caused by weakness in the abdominal wall, and it won’t tighten loose skin. For toning and flattening the abdominal area, liposuction is sometimes combined with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

What are the benefits of getting this procedure done?

There are  numerous benefits of liposuction of the abdomen.

    1. Fat deposits removal
    2. Reduces cellulite
    3. Boost self-confidence
    4. Improved Overall Health
    5. Enhanced contours through sculpting
    6. Safe and effective treatment
What is the difference between tummy tuck and abdominal liposuction?

If you are wanting a defined abdomen, both stomach liposuction and tummy tuck are good options for you. However, the tummy tuck works differently than the abdominal liposuction. It’s aim is to remove excess skin and to tighten your abdominal muscles. With Vaser liposuction we can avoid the need for a tummy tuck in some cases. The results depend on the person and its best to see your doctor to see if you are the right candidate.

What to expect after stomach liposuction?

Given the fact that the tumescent fluid used in abdominal liposuction can stay in the body for a maximum of 18 hours, most patients will not have to take any strong pain medication. However, if you experience massive pain, we recommend contacting the clinic immediately for advice. The majority of patients will normally experience some minor swelling. Good hygiene is essential after the procedure to avoid infection and further complications. Patients are recommended to shower 1x a day using an antiseptic wash starting the day after the liposuction. Lastly, the patient must arrange a ride home as the  anaesthetic can remain in the body for some hours.
