Drooping Eyelid Surgery in Melbourne

Plasmage is a medical device that uses plasma energy to tighten, lift, and shrink skin non-invasively. It is an excellent alternative to the traditional surgical blepharoplasty in correcting skin problems and drooping eyelids.

PLASMAGE Treatment Melbourne

At SKIN CLUB – Cosmetic Doctors, Dr. Sharma is highly trained and skilled at performing Plasmage treatments. The most common areas treated with the procedure are the upper and lower eyelids. In addition, it is used to remove skin lesions and to help with the removal of scarring.

For those who are looking for non-invasive treatments, Plasmage works by delivering plasma energy to the skin by a plasma pen tool. The electric discharge from the tip of the pen heats the skin to increase collagen development. This results in skin tightening, also known as lifting of the skin.

Best Options for Droopy Eyelids, Circles & Sags

Plasmage is one of the safest tools to perform non-surgical Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). It is used in treating and rejuvenating even more delicate areas such as the upper and lower eyelid. On the contrary, lasers and radio surgical treatments cannot be used in these fragile areas. Unlike surgery, the results are quick and with less downtime, making it a fantastic alternative to drooping eyelid surgery. It has a less aggressive approach than laser and radio surgical treatments with more effective and precise effects.

Aside from its ability to improve the eye region, Plasmage can also be used for the following concerns:

  • Upper and lower eyelids (Non-surgical blepharoplasty)
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Acne
  • Verrucas (small lumps on the feet)
  • Lentigo (A type of freckle that is a small tan, brown, or black spot which tends to be darker than usual)
  • Scars or Stria
  • Fibromas or unwanted benign skin lesions.
  • Xanthelasma (bumpy yellow patches usually on the inside corners of your eyelids or around your eyes)
  • Tightening the neck, face and belly button

All facial aesthetic treatments including Plasmage require an initial consultation with our doctor. This is to ensure that you have everything you need to know about the procedure, such as downtime and expected results. More importantly, this is to ensure you receive the best treatment for your needs.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the Plasmage Device Work?

With the use of a pen-like tool, Plasmage treats skin imperfections by generating and using plasma. In this process, tissue sublimation does not cause any damage to the skin and surrounding tissues. The sublimation (from solid to gas state) happens only in the epidermis, resulting in a tightening or lifting effect of the skin. Plasma energy is generated through the ionization of gases in the air. Plasmage uses the generation of this plasma in an impressive manner to treat skin concerns in even delicate areas both safely and effectively. Plasmage is one of the few safe alternatives that can be used to deal with issues on the upper and lower eyelids. Previously, droopy eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) would be required to attain worthwhile results. This is no longer the case for a wide variety of cosmetic issues. It results in less downtime compared to blepharoplasty, while being less intensive and yet still very precise even compared to other devices that use plasma energy.

Is Drooping eyelid Surgery Procedure Painful?

A local anaesthetic cream is applied on the area to be treated prior to the treatment to reduce pain. Our patients report the procedure as a comfortable process, only experiencing mild discomfort. This procedure is less painful than drooping eyelid surgery. However, if you are concerned about pain and were considering blepharoplasty surgery, it is likely worth your time checking if Plasmage may be a suitable alternative. The procedure can also help you acheive your desired goals while reducing the discomfort and downtime required to do so.

    Is There Downtime Required?

Plasmage creates micro-wounds on the skin’s surface that are visible after the procedure. The tiny dots or scabs from the wound falls off at around 4-10 days after the procedure, leaving small red marks. These small red marks will slowly fade in about 3-6 months and can be covered with makeup without much difficulty. Patients may feel mild tenderness in the treated area for 1-4 days. Swelling is also a common side effect that will subside 2-3 days post-treatment. In comparison, it could take two weeks or more for swelling and bruising to heal after drooping eyelid surgery.

How Long Do I Wait for the Results to Show?

Due to the swelling, the results may not be seen immediately. You may see the initial improvement within 7 days after the treatment and will continue to see the difference over the next few months. The final results show at about 3 months after the procedure. After three months, the tightening should have peaked, and any residual swelling should have dissipated. At this stage, you should comfortably be able to determine the results you have attained from your treatment.

How Long Will the Effects of the Treatment Last?

The result lasts for up to 2 years. However, it may require another treatment or touch up to maintain the full effect of the procedure. How soon you may want a followup treatment will largely depend on your skin’s condition and your desired goals.

Does Medicare Cover Any of the Costs?

As Plasmage is considered an aesthetic procedure, we are unable to accept Medicare or any health insurance. As an alternative, we accept ZipPay for payment plans. Please make sure to register to the app and have your account approved prior to coming into the clinic for easier access and no delays. For more information on this option, please visit www.zippay.com.au for more details.

    Can it Treat Lesions?

Plasmage is an effective, painless and quick treatment for any unwanted skin lumps and bumps. It is crucial, however, that lesions are checked by our doctors to see whether they can be safely removed and are benign. Please note that there is a risk of scarring when lesions are removed. Then again, there could be additional factors to consider when lesions are frozen off, burnt, or otherwise surgically removed as well.

How Many Treatments Do I Require?

Results show as early as after a single treatment. This makes it very practical not only for your aesthetic needs but also on your schedule. Depending on your goals, you may require additional treatments. Discuss your goals and expectations with your practitioner. You should be on the same page on the issue you are trying to correct or the form of rejuvenation you are trying to acheive. as some things can simply be more challenging to acheive.
